Jazzy Weekend at Kampoeng Jazz, Bandung

On the last Saturday of this month, April 30th, the city of Bandung will groove to the tunes of Jazz, as Kampoeng Jazz 2011 takes place at the Padjadjaran University Campus, on Jalan Dipatiukur no. 35th. Taking the theme: “Jazzolution, Where Music Impacts Society”, the event offers jazz as a solution to unify different people with  multi-cultural  and religious backgrounds  in the spirit of humanity, and to care for human issues such as poverty alleviation and education.

Kampoeng Jazz 2011 will feature two renowned international Musicians: Tahiti 80 from France and Sabrina from the Philippines. Tahiti 80 was founded in 1993 by Xavier Boyer, Pedro Resende, Médéric Gontier and Sylvain Marchand and has released 5 albums up to date. Playing indie music, the band has made quite a name in the non-mainstream musical scenes. Sabrina is a Philippine singer who specializes in playing songs using acoustic instruments, especially acoustic guitar. Even though all of her songs are covers, she managed to bring something new, fresh, and smooth to the songs.

Other names that decorate the artist line ups are some of Indonesia’s finest jazz musician, including: Dira Sugandi, Yovi Widianto Fussion, Syaharani and the Queen, Tesla Manaf featuring Mahagotra Ganesha, Calvin Jeremy, Royal Flush, Projectthree, KPH All Star, The Soul of Magnolia, Stereotitude, Roadstone, Merah Kuning Hijau, and DJ Arya.

Pre-sale tickets are sold at IDR 120,000 and regular, on-site tickets are sold at IDR 150,000.

While you are in Bandung, you may also want to stroll down the city and observe some of its antique art deco buildings. Obviously, you also cannot leave Bandung without tasting some of the intriguing culinary meals available or explore its shopping’s paradise.
