Jfff 2011Metropolitan Jakarta will once again show off its Glamorous Fashion and scrumptious Culinary side, as the annual Jakarta Fashion and Food Festival (JFFF) 2011 gets underway from   May 14th to 29th Summarecon, Kelapa Gading.   Calling itself: "INCULTURATION", Transforming Indonesia into Global Taste, the event will present masterpiece collections by  Indonesian top designers, as also Ready to Wear and Executive brand names, accompanied by a mouth-watering Food Fiesta  that features a wide selection of tastes.

First held in 2004, the Jakarta Fashion and Food Festival became an event for Indonesian designers to feature and promote their works, while serving as a runway for Indonesia’s top models to walk down on.

This year, the event will commence on May 14th with a stylish carnival, various musical performances and a late night shopping fiesta .  Among  collections scheduled to hit the catwalk are: Celebrity`s Sunglasses by Optik Zeis, Fashion Hub `Young & Chic`, Tribute to Robby Tumewu, IPMI’s `Ethnic` and `Evening Gown` collections, Precious Time by Watch Studio, Crafting Metrocultures by IIFC, The CatWalk Fashion Gallery, and many more. Aside from fashion shows,  JFFF will also feature Gading Model Search (GMS), GMS Kids Category, Gading Beauty Awards, and the Gading Fashion Entrepreneurship Awards (GFEA).

One of the highlights of the Food Festival, is the Kampoeng Tempo  Doeloe (KTD) or the Old Time Village which will take on the atmosphere of Old Time Batavia. No less than 50 selected culinary kiosks from all over the archipelago will fill KTD. As in previous years, payment is by coupons  printed in the form of old currencies. The KTD will also be highlighted with nostalgic folk entertainment such as the  Layar Tancap or Open air Movie theatre, the Wayang Potehi puppet show, the Sinden vocal performances, and the exciting monkey performance, or Topeng Monyet.

The food festival will also feature an international Wine and Cheese Expo, to take  place at the La Piazza Multifunction building. Featuring some of the best Wines and Cheeses from Australia, America, Argentina, Chili, Italy, Germany, Canada, New Zealand, France, Portugal, South Africa and obviously Indonesia, the Wine and Cheese expo has proven to receive significant growing response every year. Scheduled within the Wine and Cheese expo are a Wine Workshop, the Wine Challenge, the Wine & Food Pairing, Wine Dinner, Cheese Challenge,  Glass Tasting Class,a Taste of New Zealand, Premium Wine Tasting, Cheese Discovery and a Pastry  Chef Show.
